  • Questions for all visitors:
    • Do you hold a concert soon?
      The choir is regularly performing, when and where will be the next concert held, you can see on the list!
    • How does one become a member of the choir?
      Choir is gladly expecting new members. Auditions for new members are held once a year, usually at the beginning of academic year. However, new male voices are welcome all year long, so men can arrange auditions even now! Contact us on skud-igk@zg.tel.hr or on phone (01) 4813 321 / 4813 320.
    • Where are choir's capacities and capacities for rehearsals?
      All choir's capacities are located in Zagreb. Official choir's capacities with the small rehearsal hall are located on Opatovina 11. (the strict centre of the city). But the most of our rehearsals are held in the building of INA Naftaplin on Subiceva 29 (near Kvaternik square).

The Academic choir "Ivan Goran Kovacic" was founded in 1948. The choir was conducted by renowned Croatian musicians: Mladen Jagust, Dusko Praselj, Lovro Zupanovic, Adalbert Markovic, Dinko Fio and Vladimir Kranjcevic.

In 1987, the artistic leadership of the Choir was taken over by Sasa Britvic. The choir "Ivan Goran Kovacic" gave performances also conducted by Lovro pl. Matacic, Milan Horvat, Pavle Despalj, Niksa Bareza, Vjekoslav Sutej, Uros Lajovic, Gerd Albrecht, Kazushi Ono, Hans Graf, Kurt Masur, Pinchas Steinberg, Lorin Maazel, Gustav Kuhn, Dimitrij Kitaenko, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Anton Guadagno and others.

The choir is frequently on tours abroad, in the United States, China, Chorea, Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia.

The choir has taken part at famous Festivals like Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Wiener Festwochen, Settembre musica in Torino, Flaneries Musicales in Reims, XXI. Festival of French Music at La Chaise Dieu, Baroque Evenings of Varazdin, Dubrovnik Summer Festival and accompanied by illustrious orchestras as Wiener Symphony Orchestra, Moscow State Philharmony, Municipal Theater Orchestra in Florence, The National Opera in Monte Carlo, Gewandhausorchester from Leipzig, Slovenian Philharmony, Zagreb Philharmony, The Symphonic Orchestra of Croatian Radio Television, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, The Symphonic Brass Orchestra of Croatian Army and others.

The Academic choir is the winner of many rewards and recognitions, from which we single out The Chancellor of Zagreb University Reward, The City of Zagreb Raward of and Reward "Vladimir Nazor".
